Contingency Planning for Fish Mortalities18th December 2018
Enscape Consulting and partners were commissioned by the Scottish Government (Marine Scotland) and Zero Waste Scotland to carry out work on "Contingency Planning for Fish Mortalities in Scotland". The report (below) builds on the Zero Waste Report 2016, “Zero Waste Report – Fish Mortalities in Scotland”, which investigates suitable alternative Animal By Product compliant disposal routes for Scottish finfish farming waste.
The objectives of this report and the work done were:
- To assess the ability of the industry to deal with significant mortality events at farm, disease management area (DMA) and regional levels
- Where issues are identified, suggest alternative and cost effective contingency removal, transport, storage and disposal pathways per region
- Consider the industry’s future ABP material disposal requirements and whether current disposal capacity and infrastructure can meet this effectively
