Trials Using Innovative, State of the Art Sorting Equipment Configurations to Produce Market-Ready Materials
On behalf of our clients we have designed, organised and delivered trials with equipment providers across Europe. The approach involves understanding the nature of the materials involved, and then producing an outline configuration of technologies, processes and systems that will take the waste streams and sort them to produce market-ready materials.
In one project, funded by Zero Waste Scotland, we carried out flotation trials to establish how well stone and glass material could be separated from organic materials.
We have carried out optical sorting trials in Germany, using mixed household and commercial waste, to separate out organic, stone and glass fractions into different streams.
Screening efficiency is an important element in setting up subsequent sorting systems to operate efficiently. We have used a variety of screen types to demonstrate different levels of efficiency, in removing and sorting into different fraction sizes a wide range of input wastes.
Fluidised air beds have been trialled to separate otherwise difficult/impossible (with current technologies) waste streams, demonstrating clearly levels of effectiveness and potential.
Drying systems can be an important step in preparing materials for state of the art sorting processes. We have trialled different systems and approaches and understand the pros and cons of different configurations and operating parameters.
